BRSN: Morgan, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. What was your mindset going into the Ivy League weekend?

Morgan: We were coming off a tough opening weekend against Michigan State and we knew we hadn’t played our best hockey. Heading into the weekend, we just wanted to get back to our basics, focus on the details of our game and let the results take care of themselves.

BRSN: How did you first get started with hockey, and what kept you in the sport?

Morgan: I loved being outside as a kid, so when my dad built an outdoor rink in our backyard I was naturally obsessed with the game. Whenever I’d get home from school I’d always head right out onto the rink for a couple of hours. As I grew up and began playing competitively, I loved how fast the sport was played. Everything on the ice happens so quickly things can change at any second, and for whatever reason, that was very appealing to me.

BRSN: Why did you choose Cornell?

Morgan: When I came on my visit and watched a game, I loved the atmosphere. The band, student section, and fans are all a part of what makes Lynah so special. Couple that with a competitive team and great academics, and I was sold.

BRSN: What is your greatest hockey memory?

Morgan: Probably playing at Madison Square Garden last season. It was cool to play in such an iconic rink, and we were able to beat a great program in Boston University so that was a lot of fun.

BRSN: For two years, you went away to prep school and played for St. Andrews College. What was that experience like?

Morgan: I really enjoyed it. It was my first experience living away from home and it really allowed me to focus on my hockey and education, which eventually helped me get here to Ithaca.

BRSN: So far, you’re averaging a point a game for the #17 ranked Big Red, what are your expectations for yourself and for the team this season?

Morgan: It’s pretty clear we still have a lot of work to do, but I think the sky is the limit for this team. We have a special group of guys and we have all the right pieces to put together a team that could compete for a national championship. Right now, we’re taking things one day at a time, and I’m just trying to contribute to the success of our team in any way that I can.
