As we enter the final week of the season, Cornell is coming off a big win in the Empire State Bowl at Columbia. With a final score of 42-40, the Big Red offense exploded. In 2015, Cornell was able to squeak by with a small margin of victory (3-0), but, last week, the margin was even smaller.
The Big Red seniors will take the field for the last time at Schoellkopf. Although the team is coming off a great win, Cornell’s efforts this Saturday will be to no avail. The Quakers stand at 6-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play. Penn is also coming off a superb performance last week, as they beat a previously ranked Harvard team 27-14. The Crimson, 7-2 overall, made quick work of the Big Red earlier in the season, defeating the Cornell 29-13.
The Quakers will emerge victorious over the Big Red in a disappointing loss to end Cornell’s season. With a final score of 31-14 in favor of Penn, the game won’t be very competitive. Nevertheless, the Big Red should not hang their heads after this season.
Coming off a miserable one-win season, Cornell has had a fairly successful fall. Big Red football will have a winning record on the road for the first time in 22 years. Dalton Banks has emerged as a leader for the Cornell offense. As he continues to grow, the football team will develop and improve.
The future is definitely bright for the Big Red.
